Abstract

The present study aims to develop a profile of the female juvenile offender in the Basque Country. Records of children who have entered the Gorbea Educational Center have been studied, as it is one of the two centers for young female offenders in the whole region. Regarding minor offenses committed and characteristics of offenders, there are four different profiles: those who commit acts of parental domestic violence; the children who commit crimes against property, distinguishing gypsies and other ethnic groups; and finally young holding other crimes. Disciplinary records have also been analyzed to check how often offenses are committed within the center and understand which are the most committed and what is the sanction imposed.
