Abstract

Education and its development at different levels of learning have been and will always be topics of discussion within the branch of teaching. Evaluation has been a common and characteristic human activity since it exists. Obviously there are differences in the evaluations that are carried out on a daily basis and those that are carried out in those that are carried out scientifically and systematically in educational centers. Evaluation, like other aspects related to the educational world, has gone through different conceptions, being, in recent years, one of the didactic elements that has evolved the most in the educational and social context, as well as the issues that have concerned the most to teachers and educational administration. For this research we propose to highlight not only the relevant clarifications to conceive a definition of for- mative assessment but also to highlight why it is important to understand it, develop it, adapt it in, with, by and for Higher Education through the discussions published at a scientific level about the topic. Document analysis has been one of the most necessary elements for current scientific research, using the Google Academic search engine we have used words such as Formative Evaluation to select the works that contribute to the most significant discussions in order of relevance. It is concluded that the formative assessment is not only inclusive at physical, social, political and economic but also human levels, its absence would put in check the vertiginous growth of electronic media that support the current educational sys- tem, especially at the Higher Education level considering the distance educational programs which today somehow allow continuity at an educational level despite a vital need for social distancing and human confinement.
