Abstract

The paper generalizes R. S. Stepleman's results concerning a certain class of real functions. The main theorems develop necessary and sufficient conditions which make full use of the knowledge of the fixed point and the iterates of the function. Some corollaries concerning nonexpansive and strictly nonexpansive functions are given.
