Abstract

Aim: Appendicectomy may reduce relapses and need for medication in ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, however, long-term prospective data are lacking. We aim to analyse the effect of appendicectomy on therapy refractory UC. Method(s): In this prospective cohort series, all consecutive refractory UC patients referred for proctocolectomy between November 2012 and June 2015 were counseled to undergo appendicectomy instead.
