Spurious Results from Automated Hematology Cell Counters

Abstract

Unusual patient samples may produce erroneous results on automated hematology cell counters. This article lists and explains some of the factors that may lead to spurious hematology values. When such samples are encountered, the incorrect parameters must be assayed by alternate methods.
