Abstract
The work argues that the applied arts offer a specific advantage for the study of aesthetics: the separation between the artistic and the nonartistic can more evidently be operated. this statement is argued by showing that the aesthetic value of architecture is conveyed by its expressiveness. as expressiveness can be differentiated semantically, aesthetic value is identified as the metaphorical expression of ethical priorities.
