Abstract

Cross sections for electron impact excitation and capture to individual magnetic sublevels of Cu-like to Ge-like tungsten ions have been calculated, by using MCDF method. Furthermore, these cross sections are employed in calculating the polarization of the corresponding 5f→3d lines. We compare the polarization of the lines formed by EIE with that of the same lines but formed by DR. It is found the differences are very large.
