Abstract
Examination with Dilatometer (Flat Dilatometer; ASTM D 6635-01) had done many times by the Geotechnic practitioners, to get geotechnic in-situ parameters especially for sedimentary soil. To see benefit which can be taken from DMT examination, this research was done on tropical residual soil which were spread wide enough in Indonesia. The research's location is Resor Dago Pakar at 2 (two) areas Graha Permai and Graha Kusuma with the distances approximately 1 km each others. The investigation consists of dilatometer test (DMT), Core drilling and sampling, Pressuremetr test (PMT), and index and engineering laboratory tests. The results of this research showing that most of geotechnical parameters calculated from dilatometer test still in the range of realistic values as geotechnical parameter's generally using in the geotechnical areas, Therefor the dilatometer test (DMT) still can be used for testing in the residual tropical soils, minimum as the first data for references values for the following detail investigation. However geotechnic parameters obtained still have to be checked to answer question which is fundamental formula from Marchetti admittance of applied determination of geotechnic parameters of residual soil, because the influences of the disturbances in labotaroty test and cementation in tropical residual soils become as important factor for studied, so that the correlation obtained between DMT and laboratory test results is valids.
