Comparison of methods for the determination of calcium in plant material.

Abstract

Six methods were studied and one of them, a new method, is described. Plant material, 0.6 g, and norit, 0.3 g, were shaken for 2 h with 50 ml N HC1. To 5 ml of extract were added successively 30 ml water, 3 ml 2 N NaOH, 2 ml Carbocel (see Abst. 5284, Vol. 30), 3 ml 2 w NaOH and an indicator mixture of calcein and thymolphthalein.
