Abstract

Paris polyphylla Smith has drawn much attention in recent years as used in traditional system of medicine since ancient times, one of the important medicinal herbs used in homeostasis, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory infections. The excessive extraction of this species for use in the pharmaceutical industry has resulted in the ruthless destruction of natural populations. Therefore, attempt needs to be taken to adopt urgent conservation steps and develop innovative methods to propagate and cultivate this economically important and high value medicinal herb of Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).
