Abstract

Five species of Bramidae occur in New Zealand waters. Brama brama is occasionally taken in small schools by trawlers. Pteraclis velifera, Pterycombus petersii, Taratichthys longipinnis, and Taractes asper are poorly known oceanic fishes, rarely seen except as beach-cast specimens. The three last-named are new records for New Zealand. © 1981 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
