Fishes of the family bramidae recorded from new zealand

Abstract

Five species of Bramidae occur in New Zealand waters. Brama brama is occasionally taken in small schools by trawlers. Pteraclis velifera, Pterycombus petersii, Taratichthys longipinnis, and Taractes asper are poorly known oceanic fishes, rarely seen except as beach-cast specimens.
