Abstract

Site 568 is on the upper part of the Middle America Trench slope about 47km landward from the Trench axis. The major objective was a detailed monitoring of gas through the whole section in a study of the formation of gas hydrate. Drilling ended at 417.7m in order to stay above the base of gas hydrate as required by the Safety Panels. A sequence of gas components at certain horizons is presented.-E.Hayes
