Abstract

A green method of coating natural zeolite with metallic gold, and characterizing the resulting products was developed. The product was obtained by dispersion of natural zeolite powder in HAuCl4 solution, followed by reduction of the Au3+ ions using Callophyllum inophyllum L. leaves extract and subsequently calcined at 300 °C. The characterization results show that element mapping using EDX did not definitively prove the presence of gold in the zeolite. However, the XRD results did suggest that metallic gold was present in the corresponding product.
