Abstract
Absolute doubly differential electron emission yields from thin films of hydrocarbons and amorphous solid water following the transmission of 6-MeV protons and 1-MeV/u fluorine ions are presented. The absolute yields from amorphous solid water are compared to results from the PARTRAC Monte Carlo track structure simulation code for electron transport in liquid water. The model shows good agreement with the experimental data for electron energies greater than approximately 70 eV, but tends to overestimate the yields of low-energy electrons. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
