Abstract

After confirming diagnosis of pemphigus or bullous pemphigoid, first line therapy, with the goal to induce healing of the lesions on skin and/or mucous membranes, is introduced. In pemphigus, as a first line treatment, oral corticosteroids with azathioprine or mycophenolate mophetil as adjuvant therapy are used, and in bullous pemphigoid first line therapy are oral or topical corticosteroids. If these therapeutic options do not gain satisfactory results, drugs from the second line are introduced. It is very important to monitor these patients and perform some preventive measures to avoid possible side effects of the therapy.
