Abstract
The use of mobile instant messaging (MIM) services has increased in Turkey the same as all over the world. It increasingly becomes important to explain the factors which determine preferences of people for using these services, as use of these services spreads among users. This research, based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) aims to explores the factors affecting preference of MIM ser- vices, In this sense, how preferences are affected by identifying with TAM and by the critical mass fac- tor perceived is analyzed. This research is conducted with the university students. According to the re- sults, TAM factors positively explain these preferences and also the added identification factor have a non-impact on the perceived practicability of the product. and critical mass factor have positive im- pact on the perceived ease of use and the perceived intention.
