Dyslipidemia is a condition characterized by increased levels of total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides and or decreased HDL levels. Gotu kola (Centella asiatica L.) and turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) extracts have been used to treat various diseases including dyslipidemia. This study aims to determine the protective effect of the combination of gotu kola leaves and turmeric rhizome in juice preparation on male Wistar rats. A total of 30 rats were randomly assigned consisting of normal group (receiving drug carriers), positive control group (receiving drug carriers), comparison groups (receiving gemfibrozil 125 mg / kg), groups receiving juice dose 1 and dose 2. All groups except The normal group received induction of 40% high fat and 25% fructose in drinking water for 21 days along with the test drug. Parameters included total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides, atherogenic index, liver index, heart rate, and the percentage of lipid-peroxidation inhibition measured on day 21. The results showed an improvement in lipid profiles. A decrease in triglycerides correlates with a decrease in heart rate. The results of further analysis showed a decrease in atherogenic index, liver index, and inhibition of lipid peroxidation in the group receiving juice dosage 1 and 2 which were significantly different from the positive control group (p <0.05). It can be concluded that gotu kola leaves and turmeric rhizome in the juice formulation provide an atheroprotective effect in dyslipidemia.
