Abstract

It is assumed that the MS development is historically dependent on external cycles (national and international) and hence its development trajectory has striking features of a peripheral insertion. Therefore, we propose an integrated analysis that takes into account a more general theoretical perspective, linked to the thinking of Caio Prado Jr. and Celso Furtado. Besides it is made an analysis that takes into account the role and the specific local conditions. The findings present that the incorporation of the State in the process of capitalist accumulation occurred in peripheral terms, and it was entrusted in it the role to develop its agricultural vocation.
