Abstract
Viola silicestris, a distinctive new species found in sandstone and rhyolite habitats in eastern New South Wales and far south-eastern Queensland, is described. It has previously been confused with Viola sieberiana and V. hederacea, from which it differs in habit, leaf, flower and habitat characters. © 2006 Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust.
