Abstract

Ethylenediamine-reduced graphene oxide (ED-RGO) sheets were prepared by simple refluxing of graphene oxide (GO) solution with ethylenediamine (ED), which effectively reduced toxic Cr(vi) to less toxic Cr(iii) by an indirect reduction mechanism with the assistance of π electrons on the carbocyclic six-membered ring of ED-RGO. © The Royal Society of Chemistry 2012.
