Abstract
The mining sector through history has been constituted as an economic line of high value to the regional and economic development of the localities where it is developed, but nevertheless it does not stop worrying the conditions in which the mining works. The objective of this research is to present the socio-economic, organizational-administrative, financial and technical aspects of production present in mining in the province of Sugamuxi in the department of Boyacá, Colombia. To achieve the objective, it was used as the structured survey of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia (Minminas) and the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Chile, which was applied in the socioeconomic part to 120 mining workers of the province and in the last three components of the instrument to 60 mine managers distributed in the 11 mining municipalities. The study allowed to account for a low level of coverage in social security, lack of the use of administrative tools and a traditional form of exploitation in the vast majority of mines.
