Demand response by residential and industrial customers: A rapid systematic review

Abstract

In light of evolving changes in the electricity sector, demand response (DR) initiatives have increasingly claimed the attention of policymakers. Although many of these DR initiatives have been trialed, the effectiveness of DR incentives remains under-researched. Based on the well-known reporting method for rapid systematic reviews (PRISMA), this study examines the existing DR literature and presents a list of DR incentives for both residential and industrial customers. The major finding is that the effectiveness of DR initiatives varies widely from no impact to over 50% reduction in the reference load. However, no empirical studies have been found that examine DR applications to solve the recent day-time minimum demand problem.
