Abstract

The crystal structure of Na6Mo5P2O23(H2O)13 was detd. from 3-dimensional x-ray data collected by the equi-inclination Wessenberg method using Cu Ka-radiation. The crystals are orthorhombic, space group Pbcn, with a 15.423, b 16.896, c 12.394 .ANG., Z = 4. The structure is built up of Na coordinated Mo5P2O236-groups. These groups are coupled together through bonds O-Na-O and O-Na-H2O-Na-O. Final refinement by least-squares anal. with isotropic temp. factors using 2681 (visually estd.) independent reflections resulted in an R-value of 9.4%.
