Abstract

Flux control in CSP towers require spatial high-resolution direct normal irradiance (DNI) measurement while operating in cloudy weather, in order to plan an accurate flux aiming strategy for a stable and high performance operation. On each heliostat there is a PV cell for power supply. These cells can be also used as global insolation sensors and with manipulation supply an efficient, dense, non-expensive spatial direct irradiance instrument.
