Galton misrepresented

Abstract

Sir Francis Galton is often referred to in the statistical literature as the originator of many of the ideas and tools of the modern statistician. But even a casual look at the historical literature shows that many of his ideas were altered by later, more mathematical statisticians, losing some valuable insights in the process. Warren Gilchrist explores three of these ideas.
