Abstract

Here, we presents new ceramic evidence obtained from the compositional petrographic and chemical characterization -by means of a thin cut and an instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA)- of a ceramic set linked to "valliserranos" styles, recovered in local sites. The compositional profiles obtained are compared with pieces from archaeological sites of valley (Hualfín), in the Bolsón de Fiambalá and the Puneña region of Chaschuil (Tinogasta), for which we already had compositional data obtained by other investigators. When discussed within the frame of the interactions between populations of the Puna of Antofagasta de la Sierra and the near valleys the results contribute to the discussion about production and circulation areas of ceramic sets in the past.
