Abstract

More than 9 million Americans met diagnostic criteria for both a mental illness and a substance use disorder, according to the latest results of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). The 2019 NSDUH report, released on Sept. 11, points to a close link between mental health and substance use disorders (SUDs), prompting the need for facilities to treat for all mental health conditions and SUDs, officials stated.
