Abstract

This chapter sheds light on the lessons learnt on supermarket retailing in Africa to assist investors, suppliers, and policy makers in Africa in devising strategies and polices that would enable supermarket business to prosper. There are no unique policies that can be suggested to be better or worse for the entire continent due to our social, economic, political, and culture dynamics. In that regard, we propose some remedies that may improve the supermarket retailing business environment in the continent, and which can be applied in a particular country with adjustment. Suggested solutions aim at facilitating development of the sector and support linkages between suppliers and supermarkets.
