Postoperative pain management

Abstract

Postoperative pain management takes a significant place for patients undergoing surgery. Pain intensity varies by the site where surgery is performed and the patient's psychological and physical characteristics. It is possible to reduce postoperative complications with effective pain control. The patient's recovery process is accelerated; thus, pain is prevented from becoming chronic. Non-pharmacological and pharmacological methods and interventional procedures can be used in pain management. Preoperative planning of personalized pain management for each patient increases the chance of success in postoperative pain management.
