Abstract

The development of radiosonde systems in the former Soviet Union (FSU) over the past 70 years is described, and the extent and organization of the aerological network is discussed. The quality and compatibility of data from FSU radiosondes are compared with those from the most widespread foreign radiosondes. Plans for changes in FSU radiosonde systems are outlined. -Author
