Telemonitoring in heart failure: fact, fiction, and controversy

Abstract

The facts, fiction, and controversial issues regarding contemporary use of telemonitoring in heart failure are discussed, along with implications for future research and clinical practice. Recent studies labeled as telemonitoring have reported findings inconsistent with large systematic reviews and meta-analyses of the literature on telemonitoring in heart failure. This review explores some of the reasons why these inconsistencies may exist and also discusses some of the key issues in the contemporary evidence and use of telemonitoring in heart failure.
