Abstract
The article discusses challenges in artificial intelligence to create robots that are equipped to properly reason in ethical situations. Topics include research by the U.S. Office of Naval Research and Great Britain's government's engineering-funding council on how to program robots for ethical decision-making, efforts of researchers to create programs with explicitly formulated rules versus asking robots to derive its own from machine learning, and the development of autonomous vehicles.
