Abstract

Namun begitu guru-guru ini masih kurang menguasai dalam aspek (i) pembinaan soalan KBAT, dan (ii) mempelbagaikan kaedah serta pendekatan dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran sejarah. Dapatan kajian turut menunjukkan antara masalah yang dihadapi oleh guru sejarah ialah (i) sikap murid, (ii) murid lemah, (iii) kurikulum sejarah, (iv) kekurangan sumber, dan (v) beban kerja guru. Sesungguhnya ketandusan kepelbagaian kaedah dan pendekatan dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran sejarah menunjukkan pengajaran guru lebih banyak diorientasikan oleh keperluan peperiksaan dan menghabiskan sukatan pelajaran serta terlalu terikat dengan buku teks. Kata kunci: program i-THINK, kemahiran pemikiran sejarah, sejarah sekolah rendah ABSTRACT This study aims to identify the level of implementation of the i-THINK programmes as well as the problems faced by teachers in the teaching and learning of history in the primary schools at Papar and Penampang Districts in Sabah. This study involved 37 history teachers. The research instrument was mainly a questionnaire. The results showed that the overall mean score was high (M = 3.75). However, these teachers were found to be still lacking in the aspects of (i) the construction of HOTS questions, and (ii) the variety of methods and approaches in the teaching and learning of history. The findings also show that the problems faced by history teachers are (i) pupils' attitudes, (ii) students' weaknesses, (iii) history curriculum, (iv) lack of resources, and (v) teachers' workload. Indeed, the lack of diversity in methods and approaches in the teaching and learning of history shows that teaching is more exam oriented and driven by the need to meet examination requirements besides being tied closely to textbooks.
