Abstract
A realistic laser simulation engine was used to study synchronization and multimode dynamics in mutually coupled semiconductor lasers. An injection current close to the threshold was used to pump the two lasers. The cross correlation function between longitudinal modes was computed to characterize degree of synchronization between different longitudinal modes of the two lasers. The quality of synchronization was found to depend on the bandwidth of the photodetector. Analysis suggested that synchronization was better for individual longitudinal modes than that for total intensity modes and extended over whole range of detection without losing its quality.
