Abstract

Use of the Educational Resources Centre reference service by patrons was investigated between August and November 1993 The sample included 184 respondents, the majority of whom were staff or students of the University of Melbourne. Special emphasis was given to levels of satisfaction with the service and to a range of variables which might affect satisfaction. Three related hypotheses were developed Overall satisfaction with the reference service was found to be high, but there were statistically significant differences between some variables indicating satisfaction and the day of the week and time of day when inquiries were made Also discussed are the problems of developing a suitable method for the kind of research involved in the study. © 1995 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. © 1995 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
