Abstract
The retardation of the compact discs have been measured for poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) blends in relation to applications to the erasable optical disc. The compact discs were formed using an injection molding machine at PVDF concentrations up to 20%. The effect of PVDF on retardation was almost zero at the vicinity of the circumference of a substrate at PVDF concentrations up to 20%. On the other hand, the retardation at the center of a substrate was minimum when the PVDF concentration is 10% and almost equal to the pure PMMA substrate. © 1990, The Society of Polymer Science, Japan.
