Abstract

Eidorfe Moreira (1912-1989) wrote one of the densest chapters about the insular aspect of Belem, capital of the Brazilian State of Para, and one of the most effective contributions to those who think and run this city. While rooted in the past, grounded in the present and, subtly but firmly indicating the future, the work by the intellectual Eidorfe Moreira, with its reflective strength, makes a big impression on all those who access it. Due to the quality of the language in terms of simplicity and cohesion, it has resulted in projects such as the Escola Bosque (Woodland School) Prof. Eidorfe Moreira. This project bears the name of the author and brings residents to places that relate to continental parts of the municipality, like garlands, as the author would say, and not like appendices or isolated parts. The aim of this article is to present Eidorfe Moreira's integrative perspective on the islands of which Belém's municipal territory is composed. Methodologically, this article is based on the interpretation of Eidorfe Moreira's texts and of texts by other authors who theorized about such spaces.
