Abstract

A fluorometric assay for adriamycin and daunomycin has been developed for rat tissues and mouse ascites cells. The method is based on the release of these drugs in bound forms by treatment with Ag+ which reacts with purines and pyrimidines in RNA and DNA. Since Ag+ is a precipitating agent for a variety of biological materials, the method has the advantage of low tissue blanks and may be used in the range of 0.2-10 μg. It is possible that the method may have broader application in comparative binding studies of other agents with nucleic acids. © 1973.
