Abstract
Highlights Inspired by papercutting, an innovative BCSM with biomimetic elasticity at an ALI to reconstruct alveolar basement membrane is present. A biomimetic lung unit model with BCSM is built and it has an air-blood barrier, biomimetic breath, and controllable strain cell stretching for cellular mechanisms and drug screening. An idea for a composite material that regulates local-area strain and guides the design of in vitro alveolar models is provided. A potential way to observe the working state of the biomimetic alveoli and support the development of new approaches to drug development is offered.
