Abstract
This article presents a study of former industrial workers who went through a career change following redundancy and who have been able to engage in a new trade. It describes how these adults perceived their career change and how they constructed their new occupational identity. The goal of the study was to identify the impact of this perception on the construction of their identity Using a qualitative procedure based on interviews with eleven people, we modelled three typical identity profiles of career changers formerly working in industry: authors, actors or subjects, as well as two typical patterns of identity construction: cooperative or conflicting.
