TERRITORIO Y CARTOGRAFÍA. PAISAJES E INTERPRETACIONES. IMÁGENES GRÁFICAS, CARTOGRÁFICAS Y LITERARIAS: EL CASO DE CÁDIZ

Abstract

The studies on the construction of territory and landscape are closely related to the tangible and the intangible or ‘living’ Cultural Heritage. Through all of them the geographical area turns into a Cultural Heritage itself, composed by an ensemble of phenomena and processes, of landmarks and relationships, that configure its real memory. According to the motto ‘knowing–analyzing–acting’, these studies are essential and previous to achieve any intended work at every scale. In this process the set composed by cartography, photographs and drawings, views and paintings, plays an essential role together with oral and written testimonies. The Bay of Cadiz is proposed as the case study, due to its rich outstanding Cultural Heritage.
