Abstract

We describe a new statistical atlas of the heart consisting of atrias, ventricles and epicardium. The atlas was constructed by combining information on standard short-axis and long-axis cardiac MR images. The variability of the shape was modeled in the atlas by a statistical deformation model and by nonparametric probability distributions. The atlas has been built from 16 subjects. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
