Abstract

The paper is about the main political factors that were instrumental in the construction of the Diama and Manantali dams on the Senegal River. The lessons from the Senegal experience have relevance to other international river developments dependent on international concessionary financing, and the use of such international projects as a means of promoting regional development. © 1991 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
