Abstract

The robust development in the technology of Drone-enabled Internet of Things (DIoT) infrastructure has revolutionized major fields of disaster management, real-time surveillance, agricultural activities, and smart city management. However, the inherent vulnerabilities in communication channels, privacy preservation, security, and data integrity pose a critical risk in terms of a lack of security. This paper proposes BIoT-Chain, a Hyperledger Fabric-enabled Blockchain (BDLT) cloud framework integrated with Hash encryption version 3 (SHA-3), especially the association of Keccak-based privacy protocols to ensure robust, scalable security, and tamper-proof for Drone IoT networks. On the other side, the classical BDLT solution requires a high cost of transactions, whereas the proposed solution leverages the module for Hyperledger and permissioned, designed for lightweight consensus that ensures energy efficiency, along with maintaining low latency, which is suitable for drones with resource management. The successful integration of SHA-3 Keccak hashing improved the resilience of cryptography in terms of collision resistance against node-to-node transactions and preimage attacks. Thereby, it guarantees secure identity management and privacy-preserving intercommunication among drones block-to-block. The major performance evaluations that are addressed are one of the significant enhancements in this paper, achieving 98.33% of malicious traffic classification and detection accuracy, a reduction in latency down to 37%, and higher throughput up to 42% compared to other state-of-the-art BDLT methods. In addition, the proposed BIoT-Chain ensures data transability, integrity, provenance, and resilience against distributed denial of service (DDoS) and replay attacks.
