Abstract

Nowadays the high car traffic requires smart parking system for the drivers to save time. We propose a smart solution in this direction which is built around the IoT concept. The system is designed around two main building blocks: one for the entrance and exit from the parking lot and one for each individual parking place. All these building blocks are controlled by ESP32 and ESP8266 system on chip microcontrollers. The status of the parking lot can be verified in real time in a custom mobile app, which offers the possibility for the drivers to reserve a parking place with 15min. before their arrival to the parking. All the reservations are confirmed by SMS messages. These contain the data necessary to access the parking by: QR code or PIN code. The exit of a car from the parking is facilitated by the same codes.
