Environmental design requirements for Indoor Environmental Quality in Mexico

Abstract

The objective was the review of Mexican regulations regarding to Indoor Environmental Quality that were equivalent to the American standards requested during the LEED® v4 certification process, with the purpose of certifying buildings in Mexico. The methodology summarized in revision of Mexican standards that have equivalence with the United States norms and in accordance with its contents, its application rigor and its validity. As a result, in most of the requirements requested by the category of Indoor Environmental Quality there was no equivalence between standards. Therefore, it is concluded while the Mexican standards are not complete enough to application in this type of models or systems of environmental classification in buildings, will continue to comply with US standards as long as they have an adequate adaptation to the Mexican context by the proponents
