The Obstetric Violence and its Legal Implications in Mexico

Abstract

With this article, we reflect on the right to health in obstetric practices and how their negative effects produce gender violence in health centers in Mexico. The complexity of this right is observed from the perspective of the obligations of the State, provided for in the constitutional order, both to protect and guarantee and punish human rights violations. From this, the foundations are laid to determine how institutional violence is a determining factor that precedes obstetric violence.
