Stability of dextrose solutions of varying pH

Abstract

A study has been made of the rate of the initial decomposition reaction taking place in dextrose solutions of varying pH. From the change in direct optical rotation over a period of time velocity constants have been calculated for eight values of pH. The results indicate that dextrose solutions are most stable at about pH 4.
