Self-esteem and social skills in adolescents of an educational unit of Latacunga, 2023

Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between self-esteem and social skills in 12-year-old adolescents from an educational unit in Latacunga. We worked with a quantitative approach of non-experimental design with a descriptive and correlational, cross-sectional scope. Data collection was carried out on 110 adolescents using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the Goldstein Social Skills Scale. A predominance of low self-esteem was found in 42% of the population and a medium level of social skills in 50.91%. The correlational analysis indicated that there is a strong positive relationship between the global results of the evaluated variables. In the analysis by dimensions of social skills with the global self-esteem score, all show a moderate and significant positive correlation.
