Abstract

The problem of constructing dichotomous keys with maximum probability of right determination is discussed. Under some assumptions it is shown that keys in which all taxa are gathered on the last two levels have this property. The discussions also indicate that keys generally should be made as ‘short’as possible. Copyright © 1976, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
